The TALMID א Workshop begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 18, and will conclude at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20.

The TALMID ב Workshop also begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 18, will conclude following lunch on Friday, June 29.

Each day, Monday-Friday, will unfold as follows:

Mornings (Sessions I and II)

Morning sessions will begin at 9 a.m. in Amstutz Hall.  Session I will open with an introduction of the specific learning targeted for that day.  After a few minutes, small groups will convene in breakout rooms for interactive reinforcement under the guidance of individual instructors.

Following a break, Session II will draw from the Flora Archaeological Collection to add an element of Israelite culture into the conversation skills targeted for that day.

We will enjoy a catered meal during a 90-minute lunch break (no additional cost).  The language skills targeted for that day will give rise to simple Hebrew conversation around the table.

Afternoons (Sessions III and IV)

During Session III we will examine a specific biblical text in our breakout groups, interacting with the text by means of conversational skills acquired earlier that day.

Session IV will review the various elements of skill and discovery encountered that day.  Each day will close by exploring ways to adapt existing curriculum to take advantage of principles of modern language pedagogy encountered that day.  Session IV will be a plenary session.  Selected afternoon sessions will take place in the Flora Archaeological Room.

Evenings remain unstructured, allowing participants to relax as they wish.    Optional activities will be offered from time to time (see tab marked “For Relaxation”).

Optional outings will be offered on Saturday.  Please refer to tab marked “For Relaxation.”

TALMID א Workshop participants may board Ashland shuttles at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, to reach either Cleveland or Columbus airports at 7 p.m.
