A mixed methods comparison of vocational and identified-gifted high school students on the Overexcitability Questionnaire (OEQ). Journal for the Education of the Gifted. This is one of the only comparison studies done with the OEQ. It shows that some of the assumptions about intensity may be wrong. Mensa Research Journal published 7 articles in a special issue, Winter 2008, Vol. 39 (1)	One of the pleasant surprises of winning the Mensa Lifetime Achievement Award in the fall of 2007 was the publication of a special issue of the Mensa Research Journal, with 7 of my articles. I chose qualitative research as the theme, and the articles range from an autoethnography to a keynote speech.

Depth Psychology and Giftedness: Bringing Soul to the Field of Talent Development F. Christopher Reynolds & Jane Piirto	This is an article published in May 2005 in the Roeper Review, with my friend F. Christopher Reynolds as first author. As far as we can tell, it's the first article in the field of the education of the gifted and talented to discuss depth psychology.
Personality Attributes of Talented Teenagers	This is a statistical study compiling the results of the High School Personality Questionnaire (HSPQ) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), which I have administered to the talented teenagers at the Ohio Summer Honors Institutes.
The Creative Process in Poets	This is an article published in an edited book called Creativity in Domains: Faces of the Muse in 2005. (Editors James Kaufman & John Baer, published by Lawrence Erlbaum)

Understanding Creativity in Domains Using the Piirto Pyramid of Talent Development as a Framework.	This is another keynote speech I have delivered in Australia, Kansas, and other places.
The Question of Quality and Qualifications: Writing inferior poems as qualitative research.	This is an article I wrote after attending several conferences on Arts-based qualitative research and wondering about the standards for the art that was presented. It was published in 2002 in the International Journal of Qualitative Research in Education. It was reprinted in the Poetic Inquiry anthology in 2009. In C. Leggo, P. Sameshima, and M. The Unreliable Narrator, or The Difference Between Writing Prose in Literature and in Social Science	This is an article I wrote after attending several conferences on Arts-based qualitative research and after a symposium at AERA in 1996 on whether a novel can be a dissertation. It was published in 2002 in the International Journal of Qualitative Research in Education.
Themes in the Lives of Women Creative Writers	This is a study I did for the 1995 Wallace Research Symposium at the University of Iowa, later revised and published in The Roeper Review in 1998. It is enfolded into my book, "My Teeming Brain": Understanding Creative Writers, also.
Values of Talented Adolescents Before and After September 11, 2001	This is a study I did for the 2002 European Council for High Ability Conference on Rhodes, Greece. My findings show that National Security is not a high value for these teenagers.
Why Are There So Few? (Creative Women: Visual Artists, Mathematicians, Scientists, Musicians)	First published in 1991 in Roeper Review, and revised in 2000.

Krishnamurti and Me: Meditations on his Philosophy of Education and on India	This is a creative nonfiction essay, one version of which is in JCT, Spring, 2000, and it was reprinted in 2008 in an edited book on eastern thought in education.
"Motivation is all. Then they can do anything." Portrait of an Indian School	This is an article on a school for the gifted and talented in Pune, India, published in the Gifted Child Quarterly in 2002.
