THE DIGNITY OF ANCIENT PILLARS

the dignity of ancient pillars
Apollo of the spirit
thus it was
thus it is
the breath inside the earth
cold fire deep within
streams forth

calls to the middle-aged oracle, Eros’ clear dispatch
on old Delphic ruins
spring red poppies
wildflowers tumble
purple yellow spill
grape olive white
delicate lombardy moans
holy pine groves

click chats
of busy insects
probes to
the navel of the world
halcyon sunny climb
winds on the sacred path
the way to the truth
"What is your question?"
the oracle says
in her trance
lit with butterflies.

we wait.

"What is your answer?"
