Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, USA offers a full endorsement program in talent development education/gifted education, and also a M.Ed.  The program is accredited by NCATE and by North Central. Courses are offered at the Ashland, Elyria, and Columbus sites.  Courses(for endorsement only) are offered by cohort in the SE Ohio regions.

An   M.Ed. degree in Curriculum and Instruction with Emphasis in Talent Development Education  is also available.
 
  **Note:  Our program for the Endorsement was approved at the ODE in May, 2005.
If you just want to have an endorsement: 

20 semester hours are required for endorsement. The endorsement is for those who already hold an Ohio teacher's certificate. The endorsement is Ohio Gifted.  This usually applies to people who already have a Master's degree, or to those who want to be licensed quickly.   See your site director.  These are the required courses: 

If you want a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with Emphasis in Talent Development Education

You must be formally accepted into the M.Ed. program.  See your site director.

EDCI 650 - Nature and Needs of the Talented (3 semester hours)  Required core courses: ED 500, 501, 506, 508, 521
EDCI 651 - Curriculum Planning for the Talented (3 semester hours)  ED 650 - Nature and Needs of the Talented (3 semester hours) 
EDCI 652 - Development and Supervision of Programs for the Talented (3 semester hours)  ED 651 - Curriculum Planning for the Talented (3 semester hours) 
EDCI 653 - Counseling  for the Talented (3 semester hours)  ED 652 - Development and Supervision of Programs for the Talented (3 semester hours) 
EDCI 654 - Creativity for Teachers of the Talented (3 semester hours)  ED 653 - Counseling  for the Talented (3 semester hours) - Creativity for the Talented (3 semester hours)

ED 654 - Creativity for Teachers of the Talented (3 semester hours) 
iF YOU WANT A MASTER'S DEGREE IN COMBINATION WITH THE LICENSURE, YOU MUST ALSO DO A CAPSTONE.  WITH GOOD PLANNING, THE CAPSTONE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE INTERNSHIP. 
+ Capstone: 
  *ED 728 - Inquiry Seminar 
  *ED 738 - Practicum ( in Talent Development Education)
*ED 791 - Thesis

* ED 728 - Inquiry Seminar in Talent Development Education (is taught only by the Director of Talent Development Education.) Other inquiry seminars may be substituted if the instructor agrees that the project can be about the gifted and talented.   This may substitute for the internship.

* ED 738 - Practicum (is advised by select adjuncts and  by the Director of Talent Development Education).  This may substitute for the internship.

*ED 791 - Thesis (is advised by the Director of Talent Development Education)

ED 728, ED 738, and ED 791 are  capstone experiences for the Master's degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with Emphasis in the Talent Development Education. In order to take either of these courses, the student must have completed ED Ed 501, APA Seminar, 506 (Qualitative Research) and ED 508 (Quantitative Research) as well as the APA Seminar.
