
A one-day computer algebra conference (The 12th Annual East Coast Computer Algebra Day, ECCAD'2005) was held at Ashland University on Saturday, March 12, 2005. The conference was endorsed by SIGSAM and was sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Ashland University. ECCAD'2005 was held in honor of the 65th birthday of Bob Caviness of the University of Delaware. Fifty six researchers from Austria, Canada, and the United States attended the conference. As with the past eleven ECCADs, this meeting was informal with plenty of time for unstructured interaction.
ECCAD'2005 consisted of three invited talks and 25 poster presentations. The three distinguished invited speakers were Bruno Buchberger of Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria; Paul Wang of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio; and Erich Kaltofen of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Banquet Speaker was David Saunders of the University of Delaware.
ECCAD, East Coast Computer Algebra Day, is an annual, one-day conference that provides opportunities to learn and share new developments and to present research results in the areas of symbolic and mathematical computation. The purpose of this meeting is to stimulate interest in and enhance understanding of the technical aspects of computer algebra by providing a forum for those is the region who are active or interested in becoming more active in computer algebra to meet with each other in an inexpensive and easily accessible way.
