TEACHING EXPERIENCE
As Course Instructor
- Group Discussion and Leadership. I developed all course material and taught all class meetings for this upper level undergraduate course as an Assistant Professor at Ashland University. I evaluated all student projects and assignments. First taught in Spring 2003.
- Introduction to University Life. I based University mandated material in a Freedom of Speech theme so as to teach incoming freshmen about college life. I also advised these students for their first semester.
- Argumentation and Debate. I developed all course material and taught all class meetings for this upper level undergraduate course as an Assistant Professor at Ashland University. I evaluated all student projects and
assignments. First taught in Spring 2002.
- Public Relations. I developed all course material and taught all class meetings for this upper
level undergraduate course as an Assistant Professor at Ashland I evaluated all student projects and assignments. First taught in Fall 2001
- Intro to Performance Studies. I taught all class meetings for this undergraduate course as an Assistant
Professor at Ashland University. I evaluated all student projects and assignments. First taught in Spring 2002.
- Organizational Communication. I developed all course
material and taught all class meetings for this upper level undergraduate
course as an Assistant Professor at Ashland University. I evaluated
all student projects and assignments.
- Introduction to Human Communication. For this Ashland University
general education hybrid course of interpersonal communication, small group,
and public speaking, I developed and presented all lecture material and
in class exercises; created and graded oral and written assignments; and
taught seven sections as an Assistant Professor over one academic year.
- Conference/Event Planning. For this undergraduate course, I developed
course material, and led all class sessions. The focus of the class
was on the details of planning conferences and other special events.
The students finished the class by helping run the 1999 Cross Examination
Debate Association National Tournament at Southern Illinois University.
- Persuasion. For this upper level undergraduate course, I taught
one section, in which I developed the syllabus, lecture, activities, and
test material. I evaluated students’ projects, speeches, tests, papers,
etc.
- Introduction to Oral Communication. For this SIUC general
education hybrid course of interpersonal communication and public speaking,
I developed and presented all lecture material and in class exercises;
created and graded oral and written assignments; and taught twelve sections
as a GTA over three academic years.
- Introduction to Public Speaking. For this SIUC general education
course, I developed and presented all lecture material and in class exercises;
created and graded oral and written assignments; facilitated daily group
communication activities; and I taught four sections of public speaking
as a graduate teaching assistant over the period of one year.
- Cross-cultural Public Communication. For this undergraduate class
at Ohio University, I developed the syllabus and all class lecture and
activity material. I taught this class as part of my undergraduate
Honor’s thesis research.
- Oral Interpretation. For this undergraduate class at Ohio
University, I helped develop the course syllabus and I was responsible
for half of the class lectures and activities as well as half of the evaluation
of student projects. I taught this class as part of my undergraduate Honor’s
thesis research.
- Sign Language. This class was offered to Athens, OH area grade
school children as a part of the city’s gifted children program.
I taught sign language to a class of fifth and sixth graders for a period
of ten weeks.
As Graduate Teaching Assistant

Public Relations: Cases and Campaigns. For this upper level
undergraduate course, I assisted the professor in the daily facilitation
of classes, I presented lecture material and led class on several occasions,
and I examined the students’ projects and papers and added my own comments
to the professor’s evaluations.

Interviewing. For this SIUC upper division course, I assisted
the professor in daily facilitation of class, and was individually responsible
for many class activities as well as a unit on the persuasive interview
and a unit on the employer and the selection interview.

Rhetorical Criticism. For this upper level undergraduate course,
I assisted the professor in daily facilitation of classes. I presented
lecture material and activities and led class on several occasions.
I also assisted the professor in evaluating the students’ projects.

Interpersonal Communication. For this Ohio University undergraduate
class, I served as a tutor and facilitator of study sessions throughout
the course.
As Guest Lecturer

Leadership and Change. I was a guest lecturer for one class
period where I focused on resistance to change. I also designed class
activities on this topic.

Business and Professional Communication. I was a guest lecturer
for one class period where I focused on technology and professional communication.
