The Art of the Picture Book conference will be held May 12 & 13, 2006 at Ashland University. This conference brings together educators, librarians, artists, publishers, editors, aspiring writers or illustrators, and anyone interested in picture books.  "Art" may be interpreted to include both the fine art of illustration, as well as the art of conceiving just the right text and layout of a book.  Art is also defined as the art of using picture books successfully in classrooms, libraries, and other settings to teach and analyze, to listen and enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this conference a success! In answer to the questions: "What about next year?" and "Is this going to be an annual event?" We hope to see everyone in Spring 2008 as plans are currently in place to make this a bi-annual event at Ashland University.

  • Where available, session handouts are now on the break out sessions page with each presenter.  If you are a presenter and did not leave a handout/bibliography to be added to this collection, please feel free to email your items (word or pdf) to the conference at artpicbk@ashland.edu.  For additional information on what may be included, see the presenters page.

  • Photos from the conference have been posted in the conference photo gallery.  If you have any pictures to contribute, feel free to send them to artpicbk@ashland.edu and we will be glad to add them to the photo gallery.  Special thanks to Jim Rycik for sharing his pictures for the conference web page.

  • New photos added to the gallery on Wednesday, June 7th!
