Course Description (Catalog/Web Advisor): EDCI 131/504 Instructional Technology Lab is an independent study course providing students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with basic operations of various instructional technologies. Students are required to satisfactorily demonstrate their skills and knowledge with these technologies in order to successfully complete and pass the course. The basic skills included in this lab will provide foundations for the integration of instructional technologies in methods courses, field experiences, and other related education courses. About EDCI 131/504: Course materials are located on Ashland's WebCT course management system; available from any computer with Internet access. Though many of the assignments may be completed in the Instructional Resource Center (IRC), second floor library and all work is to be turned into the IRC, it has no weekly meetings or specific attendance policy. Students are responsible for the completion of all assignments by the final due date to satisfy course requirements. |

Instructional Technology Lab Blog The blog is a tool for weekly updates, information, and communication from the Graduate Assistants and course Instructor. RSS feeds are available and recommended for use.
Information and FAQ's for EDCI 131/504 are available on the IRC web site.
Graduate Assistants may be contacted via email: irc@ashland.edu and are available for WebCT chat sessions during scheduled office hours (spring and fall semesters). GA hours are posted in WebCT, outside and inside the IRC, and on the IRC web page. GA Hours: Spring 2008 Monday: 11 am to 4 pm
Course Instructor, Diane Schrecker, is available via email: dschreck@ashland.edu and phone: 419-207-6406.
Graduate Assistants are available in the IRC a total of 40 hours per week; these hours include day, evening, and weekend hours as scheduled. Be sure to check the GA schedules posted on the Instructor/GA page, the EDCI 131/504 course blog, the IRC web page and on the GA bulletin board inside the Instructional Resource Center. Student Workers are employed by the library and IRC to assist in running the Instructional Resource Center. While these students are able to provide general IRC directional assistance (help with locating items needed), they have nothing to do with EDCI 131/504 Instructional Technology Lab. While these students are familiar with the EDCI 131/504 course process, it is important students work with a GA. IRC student workers are not enrolled in the course, nor do they have access to the course modules. Be sure to direct specific EDCI 131/504 questions, those needing instruction, to the instructor and/or Graduate Assistants. Please do not assume the person sitting at the desk in the IRC is a graduate assistant as this is often not the case. EDCI 131/504 portfolio projects are available the after grades have been submitted. You will find completed portfolios in the IRC filing cabinet located next to the poster board; all portfolios are kept one semester in the IRC. Students are encouraged to pick up portfolios in a timely manner.
